Yes. We use a doggy daycare which requires some of these, and our vet recommends the others (like lepto) so we get them as well.

We follow what the vet says. Its pricy

So sorry. My old dog died of Leptospirosis. He actually survived the initial infection and lived another 2 years and his tissue samples were sent to Cornell for research purposes. I like to think he aided in the vaccine we have today. We are so lucky these diseases are now preventable, 100 percent my dogs get all of these even if they're considered "lifestyle" vaccines. If you've ever seen a dog suffer from something like Lyme or Lepto you don't mess around.

We don't do Bordetella because we don't board the dog. Otherwise, yes. Lepto is a big deal around here, also Lyme.

The annual heartworm is a test to make sure he doesn't have heartworm. If he had it, the monthly preventative pills could kill him. You need to do both the test and the monthly pills.

No. He gets parvo and rabies every 3 years. He will never be boarded, and Lyme is low risk for him and our location. He goes get heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.

Yes to all. If my dogs never left my property I might skip some, but they hike (Lyme), swim in creeks/lakes (lepto), and take group classes and board when we go on vacation (bordatella/flu).

Just depends on your lifestyle.

Yes, because I can afford to.

I used to skip Lyme because I use a heartworm med that also protects against fleas and ticks, and flu because we never board our animals or go to dog parks. But ticks are BOOMING where I am, even lasting well into the winter, and I find at least one on my dog each year. It's just not worth the risk. Similarly, while we're rarely in closed quarters with other people's dogs, why chance it? I don't want to stress if I had to suddenly board my dog due to an emergency, so I keep fully up-to-date on any/all shots my vet recommends.

Heartworm/Ivermectin pills monthly.

I give her all those except flu and Lyme disease. I give the heart worm in a pill once a month that also includes flea/tick preventive.
