We rented a car and did the drive up then a short hike to a waterfall. Note that our shoes were totally trashed by this and I’m not sure they dried during the week so I might bring extra crappy sneakers for this.

With teens, I would recommend you take a segway tour of Old San Juan and go down to the ToroVerde ziplines.

We fly kites at El Morro fort whenever we are visiting. It’s so much fun for all ages, and you can buy the kites right there at vendors kiosks. Also buy snowcones called “piraguas” which are yummy. And there are tons for great restaurants in Old San Juan and history too so it’s great to walk around. Walk through Paseo de la Princesa and if you are lucky you’ll hit a day with artists and food and lively music while strolling down the promenade. El Yunque is a day trip and a terrific experience with swimming holes and waterfalls. You can visit the Bacardi rum factory for a tour. Visit the shopping mall called Plaza Las Americas. Make a day trip and do the second longest zip line tour in the world at Toro Negro forest. Teens also like tubing through caves or horseback riding. You can go canyoning, or visit a coffee plantation. There are lots of days trips that will take you to do those things from Old San Juan.

Seriously get out and explore the island. It’s such an amazing place with tons of activity and cool things to see and do.

Wow, I feel like we had the same exact itinerary! Except for the snorkeling part.

I also enjoyed the walking tour by Flavors of San Juan which was not free, but gave a great overview of the history of San Juan. I also really liked eating at Metropol, it was satisfying food including ceviche, garlic shrimp, roast chicken, etc.

Honestly, it’s not really “cliff” jumping. It’s like jumping off rocks into a deep water hole. Small children and old people were doing it when I was there. I’m sure it would be possible to get hurt but not unless you were very unlucky or did something extraordinarily dumb.

EL Yunque is great!! there are a couple of forts as well

6 days with teens in Puerto Rico and need help with an itin. Staying close to Old San Juan and on the beach. Have beach and pool days covered but would love additional ideas about things to do. Thanks!
