Just so you know, the most common childhood cancer is acute lymphatic leukemia (ALL). It is approximately 90% CURABLE!

(Thanks to NIH funded research, such as what DOGE is currently cutting…). So your friend’s child has a very good chance of being fine (though of course treatment is an ordeal).

We should all be worried about tomorrow’s children though…

My DC ran 40k at age 4 with a strep infection, but it was partially due to dehydration. Thank goodness modern antibiotics aet her right.

Hopefully it's a UTI, but that's high for that.

One seemed way worse off- he spent months at CHOP- but he’s in full remission and NED for 14 mos now- just got a drivers license.

I hope it’s nothing- maybe an infection or pneumonia- but my only experience is tangential to the friends kids I mention above.

I’m a prayer and a meditator and I do believe in the collective power of sending love- while the child’s medical condition will be well handled by the hospital and providers- it’s always the parents hearts I pray for as it’s indescribably difficult watching your children suffer - and not being able to fix it.

Thank you for this information, even if it's not what I wanted to hear. My heart went out to the parent who called me balling from the hospital. DH is his close friend, and now that DH was laid off, I suggested he drive a few hrs to visit and lend support for a few days. When they are ready. I am praying too.

Is there a reasonable chance that a 10 year olds WBC being over 40,000 is not cancer? Asking about a friend's child. Hoping to hear ok news. They went to an ER, being transported to childrens. I wish I knew the symptoms leading up to this to give more background.
