DC to Detroit is about 8 hours and a little over 500 miles. 800 miles is almost twice as much.

For the record, I wouldn't hesitate to drive either.

We drive 600 miles all the time. Our cars have about 50K miles now but we've done it on higher mileage cars. I would not pay $1200 to ship a car when I could otherwise do a long one-day drive unless I had a very compelling reason.

I would drive. Get an oil change and have fluids topped off, tires inflated correctly-you should be fine. I have 120k miles on my 2017 already (long commute) and I take road trips in my car-I've never once had any mechanial problem. I do maintain my car well.

Atr their any issues with the cat other than the fact that it had a lot of miles on it?

If the car isn't reliable enough to do a pretty easy 1 day drive, you probably shouldn't be driving it at all.

Sell it and buy a new one when you get there.

I hate driving, but that's not a bad trip.

It’s an easy drive, especially across Ohio. Often made it to Ann Arbor in 7-7.5 hours.

800 miles? Maybe you mean 8 hours of driving?

It's about 525 miles. Just drive, it's very easy to do in 10.hours even with stops. Rarely will have major traffic except in DC area and around major holidays like Thanksgiving.

This isn't like driving to South Florida which is very hard to do in one day and can often get caught in traffic, etc.

I may be moving to Detroit soon (short term for now but possibly permanently), and I wonder if it makes more sense to drive my 2015 Acura, which has 140k miles on the 800-mile trip, or have it shipped for approximately $1,200? Is 800 miles too much wear and tear on a car with that much mileage?
