This is allowed under the Super Y rules. Only 25% of the players that go to nationals had to have played at least 4 games over the summer.
Just cause it’s allowed doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. I’m sure it’s not limited to Bethesda but I always found it pretty sh*tty that girls who play all summer and earn the invite then get passed over for girls who don’t play. But hey, it’s all about winning right, not what’s best for the girls.
I agree. It’s tricky though. My child will be playing Super Y under a different umbrella than their primary club. I guess that is how it gets tricky when you transition past the summer.
I may change my tune if my child is a significant contributor but right now we are simply looking for quality touches and we will see how it turns out.
Alexandria made Summer Y participants make a refundable deposit so I think they may honor the people kids who get them there which I do think is right.

It would mean not being able to play in our own club’s informal and not very challenging summer league. I also don’t want his coach to be upset and retaliate with less playing time. We plan to stay at our club next year for growth and development. Is the league worth it, challenging but also fun? Thoughts?
