Its not for grade but it is used for placement into CES, middle school criteria based magnets, high school magnets, as well as enrichment/class placement in middle school.

This doesn’t sound too inconsistent. With reading the scores can vary based on if your child has background knowledge or interest in the readings. But 89th to high 90’s percentage wise is pretty close.

My current 5th graders performance on MAP R has been very inconsistent since 3rd grade. Each year, his scores can vary from 97th percentile to 89th. For example, he starts off the school year at 97th, then in winter he drops 10 points and is 89th, then spring he can either be still at 89th or jump to 92nd, but not go up to his fall (rit) score. Or another year he can start in the 89th percentile in the fall and go up 20 points, end in the Spring at 97th. But then again start the next year 10 points below the last Spring score. Why is that happening? He obviously knows how to read and does well in class. Why is his score all over the place? Math Map is pretty consistent, compared to reading.
