Besides the 'in between' schools already mentioned, maybe check out Dorothy Height (liked this school a lot when we toured for PK, and now they're in a beautiful new building too) or Powell.

Military Road school is kind of in between and since it's pk only and has no boundary your odds are decent. I know people who are happy there.

Maybe try some Ward 1 and 4 schools? Maybe Raymond? You have 12 slots so maybe worth to put it and a few other ones that might be more likely on the list.

Yes you can change schools after the lottery, but you have to waitlist in. Frankly your chances are bleak for anything remotely convenient to upper NW. I would make other plans.

What schools are you looking at? Most of upper NW doesn't even have PK3. Maybe try for some of the CBOs that way? Though be aware that CBO funding is still up in the air for this coming school year.
