Local school systems will be impacted but loss of income tax revenues (as much as some posters seem to think education funding grows on trees).

Unless you are interested in teaching, don't frantically invest your time and resources to become a teacher.

If it fits with your skillset, look into state and local government jobs (though these will be impacted too).

I'm a private investigator whose primary clients are hedge funds. Business is very good for now. My wife works in PR; her clients are primarily corporations.

Local law enforcement officers are government employees paid by tax dollars. The federal DOGE mess will trickle down to the state and local levels as they lose tax revenue and federal funding. What will happen is that people will have to hire private security guards and more neighborhoods will become gated communities. Look at other countries where this is commonplace.

Uh, we can’t afford to live in a gated community or have private security guards. WTF.

All will be impacted, but there are some positives: the suffering will bring us together to revolt. I cannot see a large population of the country losing their livelihoods and taking it lying down. I mean, what are we supposed to do?

I’m having a hard time finding something that won’t be affected. We will always need EMTs, but how can hospitals stay open without Medicaid payments? We can’t afford restaurants, home improvement or maintenance, gas, beauty treatments….

What about stores owned by foreign entities? Aldi, ikea, Lidl, Trader Joe’s - now they will still be able to afford to pay their staff.

Even nurses could be affected. Half of all nursing care in the US is paid for by Medicaid. If Medicaid is slashed, undoubtedly many nurses will lose their jobs.

Please tell me your local jobs/industries that are not affected by this administration’s hacking job. I have really tried to think of a backup plan and I can’t think of a single thing. Too late to become a doctor or nurse.
