We did about 10 days in Oregon several years ago and thought Bend was AWESOME! We ran out of time in our 2 nights there. We had 3 on the coast, which was probably 1 too many.

Bend has killer mountain biking. The lava caves, too. There is a museum about the high mountain desert and we didn't have time to fit it in, although we did want to go.

Sun River has a lot of VRBOs and ours had access to a water park/pool place that the kids (ages 12 and 14) & my DH loved. I just chilled in the chair.

As far as your coast itinerary, I'd recommend using 1 point and driving to the other beaches. Cannon Beach is very famous for its Haystack Rock, but there were so many other areas that I thought were more beautiful and much less crowded than Cannon. Be sure to go to Tillamook and tour the factory and get some ice cream.

It’s clear you’ve never been there

Looking at PDX in -
Day 1 - Drive to Manzanita. Stay by beach in vrbo
Day 2 - Enjoy beach look for agates, see Cannon Beach.
Day 3 - get to Headlands Coastal Lodge in pacific City for a few nights - moonlight kayak, dunes, relax.
Day 8 - drive to Bannon. Lunch in Lincoln/see Depoe Bay/lunch - Anchor Inn Resort there or continue on to see Yachats. Stay around there or Coos Bay for the night or continue on to stay in Brandon area???
Day 9 - explore Bandon or Coos on way to Umpqua stay either Tiny Home (Umpqua Last Resort) or River Vista Vacation home.
Day 10 raft Umpqua
Day 11 relax - explore Umqqua
Day 12 - fly Eugene out

So I'm just trying to figure best logistics from Pacific City to Brandon since there's so much in between. Wish we could get down to Hold Beach but too much I think. Not sure if we do extra day for Coos/Depoe Bay v Umpqua free day?

Thoughts?

Last time I went to depot bay we got to see a baby whale there. I would not miss it! We usually do a day trip to depot bay and the aquarium.

My Grandparents lived their golden years out in Bend. It's lovely. It's mostly a ski town so in the summer it has the outdoor activities a similar ski town would. Beautiful walks, rivers, native American reservation nearby.

WTAF - I guess you've never lived in the area. Why even comment?

we also did a 3 night rafting trip with Row Adventures, lodge to lodge. It was awesome. If you do a search in this forum, I have detailed our 2 week itinerary here before.

If you love rafting check out the Rogue river. We did a 3-night rafting trip with OARS that was great. We camped but they also had options to sleep in hotels every night, which I thought was cool.
We flew into Bend, hung out there for two nights first.

This is insane! Clearly you haven't been there!

We loved Bend. I think we spent three nights there but it was in the Best Western Plus (suites), not a resort. We did two days of visiting all the volcano sights. Other things you could do would include: raft or tube on the Deschutes, visit hot springs in Willamette Forest, day trip to the Painted Hills, hiking in Three Sisters. Oregon is gorgeous and beautiful and has excellent summer weather.

My sister lives in Bend. 5-8 days is way too much unless you’re doing some major backpacking trip. There’s stuff to do there for maybe 1-2 days. I wouldn’t plan an entire trip around it, it’s okay but not that great!

I'd check out Sun River which is 20 minutes south of Bend

There’s an incredible amount of natural beauty, so all kinds of outdoor activities. OP, look at a map because Bend is not near the coast. I would do a trip or fly into Portland and then go from there, if you want coast, hikes, mountain, river, wine country, etc.

We are a family of 4 with 2 kids ages 13 and 15. We have been up and down CA and NM/ID/MT/WY but never OR/WA.

Seeking recs for a family resort more on lux side but still affordable for mere mortals I'm specifically seeking a resort v. VRBO because I want easy I'm late to planning summer for us and hoping for a resort that offers some activities. If anyone has suggestions for incorporating towns around the Bend area, would so appreciate as I don't know my way around there at all..
What airport best to fly into? How long drive to Bend area from there? Activities/best time to go?

I saw Headlands Coastal Lodge and The Ocean Lodge - any other recs would be great! Looking at either 5-8 days ideally either late June/early July or Aug. THANK YOU!!

Seeking -
- scenery - drives/walk along coast or beach
- rafting - we love rafting!!!
- sand board/kayak/pool
