Can you switch to a different flavor of the same food?

Above poster again. Have you tried mixing canned with the kibble? Most dogs prefer canned (but don't feed exclusively canned, or you will have the opposite of constipation).

My 3 do great on Blue Buffalo Salmon, with Wild Grains.

For poop/belly issues, canned pumpkin with a light sprinkling of sea or Himalayan salt (my dogs prefer pumpkin with salt). Also, canned green beans are great for poop issues. Every vet has told me about the benefits of canned green beans and pumpkin.

Our picky dog has been eating the Acana Limited ingredient Beef and Pumpkin for over a year now without rejecting it. We chose it because he will actually eat it, and it does not contain yeast which he is sensitive to. Yeast can also worsen constipation FYI.

As long as you always make the transition very gradual, maybe you could rotate between the 3 kibbles that she has historically liked, to keep her from getting bored?

Have had dogs for over 50 years and I have never witnessed dogs love for a food like this.

Either Beef or Chicken recipe.

Too expensive for us, but we did try a six bag order. Half Beef recipe/half chicken recipe.

I have no relationship with this food manufacturer. There should be online reviews.

I’ve been using Kirkland brand kibble for years. We have a new lab mix we got last June and he’s on the salmon/sweet potato flavor.
No stomach issues.

It's the process of switching that upsets their stomachs, you have to do it gradually not suddenly.

You could also try adding a little chicken broth to her food. We also sometimes add Stella and Chewy's dehydrated meat to our dogs food. Since your dog is constipated you want to get her extra water. You need to soak the dehydrated meat in water first. They are like quarter sized pellets. We add one or two and then cut back a bit on the dry food plus add at least a half cup of water to the food

We stir a large spoonful of Merrick wet dog food, warmed in the microwave, into our mutt’s kibble (wellness brand). But our dog will eat anything and doesn’t have any GI issues.

She does like yogurt! I’ll put some on a lick mat for her when she needs stimulation. I’ll try mixing with food, thanks

We have a medium sized mutt, 6 years old.

She’s never been motivated by her dry food. And she’s not as motivated by high value treats as other dogs, though yes loves cheese and chicken and really any meat. She may come with her puppy eyes and chin on our knees when something smells good at dinner, but if we tell her to leave something alone, she will. All that back story to give you her relationship with food. She’s not a ravenous dog.

She’s also been chronically constipated, so her vet suggested pumpkin and/or olive oil on her dry food. We gave her a pumpkin based topper for about a year that she then started rejecting. So we switched to canned pumpkin and a smidge of olive oil, which she liked but now rejects.

Her dry food is Purina pro plan salmon and rice. This is her third adult dry food type over the years as she will randomly just stop eating it.

I’m curious what you feed your dog and how it’s working for you and your dog.
