No, it's not "worse." Sometimes you ask someone for a recommendation and then it's not what you want. Sometimes the recommendations are bad or fail to account for some obvious issues. No one uses you to follow your recommendations.

She has a controlling personality plus she's insecure. People like this are difficult.

In your situation, I would avoid speaking about the trip with her. If it comes up, change the subject or find somewhere else you need to be.
