Job listings start in late January and peak in March, but they can keep trickling out over the summer. Hiring tends to take place in March-late May. Agree with the poster who recommended Carney Sandoe. Beware, however, that they often send candidates charter school positions that aren’t great.

Check AIMS and AISGW for listings as well.

Get with Carney Sandoe if you want a private school job. Many jobs aren’t posted publicly

They like to have resumes on file too, so it's never too early to reach out.

Most schools take their time this time of year and don't really start hiring until April or May, some later. If they still have the jobs posted, follow up at that time.

April-June is correct but it doesn’t hurt to also reach out to the division head.

Teachers are expected to commit or give up their roles around mid-March.

If there are 2-3 particular privates one wishes to work at, then it cannot hurt to send a resume with cover letter expressing interest in teaching (whichever subjects or grades) at the school.

Such a letter ought be addressed to the Head of School ordinarily. Proof read both resume and cover letter carefully as grammar and spelling will matter.

+1 on timing (too early) but I will also say I was surprised at how many schools didn’t even respond with a no thanks note. This was years ago though and maybe no one expects a decline note this days but it was standard then. GL!

does anyone here know when ind/private schools start hiring? I applied to positions posted both on school websites and NAIS, but have not heard back. Wondering if I'm not competitive enough or if they are gathering as many applications as possible before interviewing, say closer to spring?
