Are these schools listed in order? Commute wise, I’d prioritize Maury and L-T above JFEC (which I don’t know much about) for sure. I’d happily send my kid to 4th grade at either. I have heard good things about Van Ness in the early grades, but less so about the upper grades and the testing data is a bit concerning.

Maybe look at Capitol Hill Montessori too--I wouldn't rank it high, but certainly above Yu Ying or 2 Rivers.

Yu Ying makes no sense unless your kids already know Mandarin (and even then I don't know that the school offers slots). Agree you should look at Payne, Thomson, ITDS, and Watkins. Maybe also Seaton, Garrison, and Ross. Then rank in order of true preference (you should factor in commute!) and hope for the best.

Yu Ying won’t take 4th grade students. If you are willing to commute that way how about Inspired Teaching? Two Rivers has been under fire a lot lately so search for threads about that. What about Watkins?

We have two children who will be entering 4th grade, understanding that our probability for most schools is super low to non existent, we're entering the lottery to see what comes of it. Any feedback on our DCPS lottery school choices listed below? Also note that we plan to move out of DC around 6th grade so middle school feeder patterns are less critical for us.
