Everything I can get off my list at Lidl, I do so. (Produce is better than at Aldi) Then I hit Giant for the remainder.

I go to Costco about every 4-6 weeks for certain items I love there, like the bacon crumbles, rotisserie chicken, and wine.

Aldi and Lidl aren’t comparable to Wegman’s. They’re cheap—that’s their purpose. I find the selection for basic groceries pretty good except for produce. If you’re okay with all of that then it’s a good place to shop.

LOL NO. Unless you like cosplaying poverty or shopping with the unwashed.

YES!! Huge savings and lots of fun new interesting foods. WAY cheaper than Costco.

The difference in prices is insane. I love Wegmans, but I can't afford to buy meat from them. I am an Aldi fan. If I knew about it circa 2015, I would have saved a ton of money and my kids would have eaten better.

Same as PP...I like Aldi because of the limited selection. It's a quick shop for the basics that I need every week. I go to Walmart afterwards for more specific things. Aldi produce is hit or miss. You can't just buy one tomato or one bell pepper if you need just one. Aldi prices are ridiculously. 50% that of Giant. I don't shop at Wegmans, so I can't compare there. Between Aldi and Walmart we usually spend around $150 dollars a week. Family of three.

Wegmans is actually more affordable than Safeway and Giant. And the quality is light-years better.

I shop in a variety of stores and I cycle between WF, TJ, Safeway and Lidl. I don’t know why, but I really hate Aldi. Depressing, dingy, rude, and their stuff always seems like it’s about to spoil. Lidl has some good finds in their imported house brands. But if you want a complete shop, you need to throw a Safeway, Giant, or Harris Teeter in there sometimes.

Can't even afford to step my foot into Wegman's. I like Aldi and Lidl because of their small selection. Same with TJ as I can get in and out fast.
I eat a lot of root vegetables. They are the same everywhere.

You can save a significant amount of money, but if you really enjoy Wegman’s it’ll be an adjustment. Especially regarding produce.

Take a trip to Aldi or Lidl and see how you like it.

If you shop in DC, you can hit Lidl and Wegmans on Wisconsin Ave at the same time. LIDL’s selection is limited but the prices are unbeatable. As an aside, they have the most delicious croissants for 49 cents a piece.

We go there to buy some organic produce (limited selection), pasta, spices and some other staples. It’s worth a visit IMO.

Agree with PP that is selection is important these stores are not for you. I love them because of the savings which is significant.

I will say that some are better than others. The closest Aldi’s to me is small so they don’t carry as much as the larger stores.

If selection and environment are important to you, Aldi/Lidl may not be a good fit. I am a huge Aldi fan because of the value (much lower prices for good quality). But the environment is somewhat spartan and they just don’t carry certain products and brands.

I am a devoted Wegmans shopper and have been for 15+ years. Their selection to me is unmatched and environment is top notch. I think the prices are different but as we’re facing the uncertainty right now considering maybe shipping at Aldi or Lidl if it really would mean significant grocery savings. So tell me, how much do you save shopping at these stores over Wegmans? Do you mix and match between stores?
