Very happy at Hardy - like other stated, lots of paper based assignments and my kid is in Algebra 1 as a 7th grader, on track to do Algebra II in 9th and thus AB calc and BC calc before SAT time which is great. Great electives. Great leadership. We applied to private and got in and declined bc my kid is very happy. Will probably go private for HS just bec we want rigor and not sure MacArthur is there yet.

Just curious - where do you think the feds with “flow out”? They will suddenly have more money to move houses and move to the burbs?

They leave DC for other places with jobs.

This will start happening over the next few months, though I don’t see why Hardy would be any more impacted than any other comparable peer school in the DC area.

+1 to leadership. Our 8th grader survived the implosion of the last admin in 6th grade, recovered their footing and nailed 7th, and is acing geometry this year. (Didn't get a Walls interview, so Hardy has now caught up to Deal in that regard as well, it seems.)

Math classes are too screen based for my taste. Some science classes as well (younger sibling dealing with this now). Other classes happily still paper based.

Would current parents say the school has fully recovered from the issues caused by the previous administration?

They do use laptops at school but paper based assignments at home.

We were at the school during the previous two administrations, and have a student at Hardy now. In our experience it’s better now than it ever was under the previous administrations, and only improving. We’ve been extremely happy with the current leadership.

+1 the school has been great with balance between digital and analog assignments. We have been very pleased.

The current leadership is excellent. The principal and all APs are very good

Current sixth grade family with a high schooler who was there during the changes in leadership. I can’t comment on IEPs, but we’ve also been very happy with Hardy. It’s a nice community where kids can really get involved in a variety of activities that suit their interests. Electives are great and the math program is fantastic.

I don’t know about IEPs, but we have been very happy with Hardy. DC is a current 7th grader.

I would be concerned given the current administration that IEPs won’t be followed and there won’t be funding for them, regardless of the school. Otherwise, Hardy has been a good school for us.

Bump.
We're IB for Deal and concerned it won't be a good fit for our kid. Heard not so great about Hardy but that info feels dated, esp since it's coming from folks who have their kids in private. Love to know what current Hardy families actually think of it.

I have a 5th grader with an IEP who will have the option of either Hardy or Deal, and may have the option to go to a private school instead.

Wondering about recent experiences at Hardy, especially for anyone that had an IEP related to reading disabilities.

How is Hardy at supporting students with IEPs? Overall how have experiences been with the quality of teaching?

TIA
