We're going to Italy in June and staying mostly in the North, because of the heat. We're going to Varenna on lake como, then spending a few days hiking the dolomites, then going to Cinque Terre (which will be hot I know, but we want to spend some time on the coast), and finishing in venice.

We did Lake Como in the summer and it was perfect! We picked a good weather day and took a quick overnight to Venice as well. We had similar thoughts as you. DH and I have both been to Italy multiple times and we could not gear up for Rome and Florence with the heats d the crowds.

My family and I are wanting to take our first trip to Italy this summer. Kids are two girls ages 11 and 13. Although we realllllly want to do Rome/Florence/Tuscany we are concerned that the heat would be too much for us. What’s a good, cooler Italy itinerary for us? Probably around 10
Full days. Thanks.
