If you’re thinking about dual language, look into Stokes East End & Global Citizens. GC is new, so it’s smaller, which you may like.

OP, also consider whether you'd be willing/able to move closer to any school you got into...that may change your lottery strategy.

I would say if you truly love what you see in the school, go for it but also understand that you can be disappointed. As a former TR parent and current MV parent, and I would say that after 1st grade at TR, I was so ready to have my children move on. MV is somewhat improving on communication, lack of transparency and teacher turnover. Also drive the LAMB route in all types of situations like everyone is saying. Sending good vibes!

This. Try it out during rush hour in the rain. And remember, your child will have social invitations in the area around the school too, so you'll be driving there on the weekends.

It's one thing to have a long drive with a preschooler who doesn't have much else going on, but your child eventually will start having homework, and sports or whatever activities you choose. If you've already locked yourself into a really long commute, it's going to be a struggle to make it all work. Far better to be realistic and choose your #1 preference among *reasonable* commutes.

And remember, you'd be driving this far for 8 years, all for a school that doesn't have great stats and many parents are unhappy with. The academics are really lacking at LAMB even if nobody wants to say it out loud.

This. LAMB is simply not a good enough school to waste good lottery luck on.

I would personally put school within a school at the top, and have that be the reach. Have friends who drive there from across the river and feel so happy and lucky.

Houston and Nalle are immersion and Montessori, respectively, and are probably closer to you. Langdon also has Montessori. School within school is neither, but I think you might like it and it could be a better commute.

I would be willing to drive since its Montessori and language but I might need to be more realistic especially with traffic.

The drive to LAMB sounds unappealing from that neighborhood. I would do the drive on a random weekday morning to see if you really want to do that every day of your children’s elementary schooling. That sounds awful to me.

Where do you live? Are you looking for convenience?

I think you need to be more realistic that after preschool, there are a lot of dissatisfied parents and you might be one of them. It's hard to look back and realize you had a good lottery number but aren't happy with how you used it.

Twins can make it easier because if one has a good number, they can pull the other one in.

However you need to continue your research. Do you mean Lee EE or Lee Brookland? If you're willing to drive to LAMB, why not Stokes Brookland?

What about Chisholm?

Which Mundo campus? And which Two Rivers campus?

Whyyyyyy would you drive that day for LAMB? Great example of a school that markets well but upper-grades parents are consistently unhappy.

I am a little late to the lottery party and I have a set of twins that will be picking out schools. I have gone down a rabbit hole looking at schools. I will say that I would love for them to go to a school that has dual language option preferable Spanish and if not then Montessori program. Can I have feedback on my list or any suggestions? Also, with me having twins, will it be harder for them to be placed?

1. Lamb (i know i wont get in but a mom can dream and i wouldnt mind the drive for this school)
2. Stokes EE
3. Global citizen
4. Lee
5. Cap Hill Montessori
6.wildflower
7. Houston Elementary School
8. mundo Verde
9. Ludlow Taylor
10. two rivers
11.langdon
12. Beers
