It would be through decent and the situation in which my grandparents left would qualify in both cases. The laws of decent in both countries would allow me to pass citizenship onto my children easily too. I expect it could take 6-12 months.

Somewhat of a travel question. I have the ability to get dual citizenship for myself and my children in either Austria or the Czech Republic. My spouse would be subject to the spousal requirements associated with citizenship in each country. There is a small chance that we would work and live in the country where I have citizenship in the next decade or in the EU and a larger chance that we would consider buying property in the country where I would have citizenship. My spouse and I have spent time in both countries and think they’re lovely. We feel more connected to the Czech Republic and like that it is less expensive overall, but Austria has a more diversified economy and may be an easier place to buy property and navigate from a legal standpoint. If anyone has lived in either country for a period of time or has citizenship in either country it would be great to understand what you view as pros/cons of living and working in both countries.
