+1 check to verify there is a new principal. Unhappy staff climate in her tenure. Parents mixed, I think.

There is not a new Principal. Unfortunately, the guy that was there for the Fall was only temporary while the regular principal was out on maternity leave. She is back now.

I have a child at Seven Locks and I love the school! Teachers are great, community is caring, and my child has a lot of friends in the neighborhood from school. I don’t have any complaints to share.

I guess that's your answer. Same mess different year.

These responses have a strange vibe. I feel like it's the Principal writing them or something. Not a single family at the school can say they like it?

By the way, that thread with the drama from a couple years ago was removed for good reason. Lots of false information.

This seems like an odd response. How would you know what was true or wasn't true if you don't even have a child at the school?

Seven Locks is a great school, and it progresses up through a good cluster. The reason people move to that neighborhood is for the schools.

Definitely, enroll your kid at Seven Locks. Not only is it free, but also your kid will make friends in the neighborhood and it's a lot more convenient than dropping at a private school, etc.

After a couple of years of first-hand experience you can assess. In some neighborhoods, people think about moving into private at either MS or HS transition. Even if you do it before that point, your kid won't be measurably behind by being in K-2 in a good public school. (And will also know kids in the neighborhood at that point.)

Well yes, this is true, but if I can avoid common or known issues and avoid making multiple changes for my child I would like to do so. If many others are unhappy and making it a negative environment that definitely affects the experience for any child.

I'm wondering how things are at Seven Locks Elementary these days. After reading about all of the drama on here and talking with some neighbors we ultimately decided to enroll our DC in a private Kindergarten this past fall. With my current job situation in jeopardy, I'm not sure I want to commit to another year of private school tuition this fall. My neighbors either moved their kids to private or they have moved on to middle school so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the situation has improved any this year? I'm a big fan of neighborhood schools and would love to take advantage, but everything I've heard and read recently has been sort of discouraging. Out of control students, drama with staff, angry parents, etc. Did I hear correctly that there was a new principal this fall?
