To be fair, my cats were of the same litter, raised together and they don't get along most of the time.

I think just talk to a local cat place and see what they recommend.

The foster idea is good. Be sure to read up on how to introduce the two gradually.

It depends on your cat's personality as to whether or not they will accept a new kitten. Many do and your cat may find they enjoy their new companion.

I did this with a rescue, I was officially a foster for the first month, then adopted my kitten. I had an adult female cat and adopted a female kitten and the adult cat basically was her mother cat for the rest of her kitten hood and they're still close.

You can foster a cat or a kitten and see how it goes.

My cat’s personality changed when my kids left home and took the other cat with them. She acted like she hated the other cat, but the vet says she is bored and lonely so we should look into a kitten. I am unwilling to commit to adoption until I know that my cat is interested in a companion.

DH wants to get a puppy, but we know she hates dogs.
