Cutting off is the ultimate boundary. Nothing passive aggressive about it. No one is required to pay a dime for an adult child, particularly if an adult child is acting entitled and not being a good roommate.

I wouldn’t cut any of my kids off over an argument, however, if they are living under my roof and I am paying the bills I have expectations for lifestyle choices and general harmony in my home. If that was a problem for them I would help them move out. Any adult child in my home has to be a good roommate.

For giving me lip? No, I taught my kids at a young age how to speak to me respectfully. And if I ever cut my kids off, it would have to be really, really bad, like my kid did something heinous. Giving me lip is not even in that realm.

So many here tell parents to cut off their kids, and I really believe that they have received lip and still not cut their own kids off.
