My DD is in college for nursing. She is currently taking Calculus, Anatomy, Chemistry, and Pharmacology…. all in one semester.

It’s a challenging courseload.


There are different categories of nurses. A licensed practical nurse is different from a registered nurse.

But the problem is that there’s a lot of career snobbery floating around, and we don’t all realize how smart and skilled a lot of the people in the trades are.

Any sales job netting $75k will only require being able to mimic good eq. The key to sales is being able to pitch 100 people a day so that when 95% of them say “no”, you still hit quota- then doing it again and again and again without letting it grind you down. There’s plenty of scripts to follow and easy to understand goals.

Any retail job earning that much will require an awful lot of “we’re telling you to do x but we really want you to do y only it’s illegal to clearly tell you”.

I’ll let her know that. She was told a 3.3 GPA will kick her out of the program.

She’ll be so relieved to hear that her university advisors and the program itself is wrong!

You're going to need to clarify low IQ. I think some of us are imagining a student with an intellectual disability, who may not be able to get a high school diploma, and other people are imagining someone who is taking calculus.

Low IQ and not really bright are two different things. If your child is low IQ, they will be offered transition services as they leave HS and can find supported employment. I have seen a lot of people who did not excel in school do well in sales if they have good people skills. My friend from HS who had to repeat senior year ended up doing remarkably well in the air b&b business.
