Riverdale is in the Bronx and a nice, middle class neighborhood. Fieldston area has private school campuses and large SFHs. Coops in Riverdale are a good deal, price wise. Commute is long for being within the city. Some decent public elementary schools.

Yonkers is a blue collar city in Westchester. East side of town is Trumpy Irish Italian, west side is diverse and Democrat. Schools are bad. Much nicer suburban areas nearby, and both New Rochelle and White Plains are vastly superior for more urban Westchester locations.

I think both are pretty blue collar, although less so than the rest of the Bronx.
