Very nice people but watch for tourist tax and pick pockets.

DS just spent 8 weeks there in Tirana. Mostly cash is used in Albania and you cannot secure the Lek except when you are in the country. His favorite part was a weekend trip to do the Valbona-Theth hike, but this takes about 3 days since it is somewhat remote.
I would just base in Tirana and take a day trip to the beach and maybe one to the mountains (Gamti Mnt, or Dajti National Park) and a day in Tirana.

Albania is beautiful- beaches & mountains are both beautiful. Very pro-American and they tend to view Trump as positive, so be careful with your super liberal outlook

4 days??? That’s not enough time. We skipped most of Tirana but loved Dhermi, Gjirokaster Berat, and Theth in the north. Everyone was incredibly nice, good food, lots of natural beauty, and very inexpensive. The country is still coming back from isolation/dictator so tyere’s a fair amount of grittiness but we never experienced grifting. Be prepared for two things: 1. they use cash 95% of the time. Do not plan on using a cc or finding ATMs most places 2. they drive like maniacs
