Yup. “Hi! How are you? You look great!”

Otherwise, don’t comment on people’s bodies.

The only exception is if they are good enough friend that you often discuss health/lifestyle/fitness stuff with them. If you wouldn’t discuss your latest mammogram with them, don’t ask about their weight loss.

Several years ago, I lost a significant amount of weight (65 lbs), and there were no holds bars commenting on the weight loss specifically. It happened nonstop for the first two years, and it started getting on my nerves after a while because I felt like many wanted to dig deeper into how I lost it.

"You look great!"

(if you really think they do - otherwise you don't say anything)

Anonymous wrote:"You look great" is fine. Nothing else is needed. You do not need to specify the way in which they look great.

Not all weight loss is positive, sometimes people are sick. And definitely don't say "you look healthy" or anything loaded like that.

I absolutely hate when people bring it up, and I've been losing weight intentionally, through diet. I don't need acknowledgment or praise. A good rule of thumb is not to mention weight loss if the person hasn't brought up that they are trying. If you must say something you can generally say they look good, and then they can bring up their weight loss if they want.

Nope. I’ve reached an age where weight loss can mean an illness not a deliberate change. Better not to mention.

I wouldn't unless they announce it. "I've lost 40 pounds since we last saw each other." "You look amazing!"

Like that.

Do not say anything about weight loss please. Not all weight loss is positive, for one.

You can always say, "you look happy” or “you look like you’re in a good mood, how are things?” (Assuming their face actually shows happiness)

Please don’t comment. I lost weight because of an ongoing illness, and there is nothing positive about it for me, I don’t need another reminder. And please do not tease me about Ozempic.

Never unless they bring it up, even then I feel weird.

I wish people commented on my weight loss, but I understand why they don't. You can tell someone they look great without mentioning their weight.

What do you say if someone has lost a lot of weight? If you say to someone - you look like you have lost some weight? It could be a backhanded compliment, sort of like saying to someone that their acne has cleared up to some degree or another.

If don't acknowledge that someone looks great, it could be taken like ill will. Is it best not to comment at all unless they bring it up?
