It's a Texas thing, and it should have stayed a Texas thing.
Or, and hear me out, we just end the year a few days earlier and keep the holiday. Which was the intention this year before the snow.
Or not have the Wed before Thanksgiving - this is a newer thing for DCPS.
Or instead of having "off" for election day, have that day as records day
Or not sure why students are off March 14th
From DCPS: “We heard the importance of providing students and staff a day off in March. This change is now reflected in the calendar.
In order to make these changes, the upcoming school year calendars now include a long weekend in February and a long weekend in March, rather than a full week off in February.”

It would be nice if they could get the 2026-2027 calendar out. I’m planning travel for summer 2026 already and it’d be helpful to know when my kids will be in school.
