Rec in VA for girls at younger ages takes all the joy out of soccer. Half the girls have zero interest in being there. With a lower level travel team you at least have commitment. [/quote]

yes! rec filled with girls who don't want to be there is so frustrating. she love her lower level team. she loves practicing 3 days per week. she loves all of the games and the tournaments. she isn't as fast as others yet, but that doesn't mean it is a "me" desire. she has great foot skills, but is slower. i am wondering if upper level spots will open or if upper level players will change clubs to avoid traveling to nc and pa? a lower level team is fine as she loves it. we don't need a d1 college scholarship and she can still play travel because she loves it. travel lets her play more than rec which is what she wants. and maybe she will grow and get faster and advance. its up to her what she wants to do.[/quote]

If your daughter plays for Arlington they just got lucky if they only played VA teams. If they are in NCSL they almost always play teams from MD and also possibly a team from WV. The RL teams will only play VA teams in regular season but will play tournaments out of VA. The ECNL team will play all over. I dont understand the concern about playing out of state. its a lot closer for your Arlington team to play Bethesda "out of state" then it is for the RL team to go down to VA Beach to play in "in state" If you mean more than about 90 minutes away its rare for any team other than the top 2 teams (Academy "ecnl" /preacademy "preecnl" and Red/ecnl rl) from Arlington playing more than 90 minutes away.

You really need more details here like other posters have asked you for. If your club has only played in VA it’s probably just luck to this point. Both of my kids are on teams in NCSL for a VA club. We play clubs in VA, MD, and WV.

Not sure what shift you are referencing but playing in NC or PA is usually ECNL, GA, or MLSN. If they play NCSL or EDP, games are usually in VA or MD. NCSL and EDP may have a one off tournament in NC or PA but that's up to your coach and club.

Narrow this question down. EDP plays half in Virginia and Half in MD for example. So does NCSL.

Most league have games in and out of state.

What league and age group are you truly asking about?

Which leagues are moving to out of state travel next year? Will it be all teams in the clubs or just the A teams?
