An excellent agency that directly helps individual Americans (through both assistance AND direct monetary relief!)— and all on a tiny budget. Of course they go after it.

Perfect. I have been seeking revenge on shrieking Elizabeth Warren since Dodd Frank. I can't wait to watch her in hearings sputtering all over her Talbot's outlet jacket from 1997.

CFPB was created after the housing crises by an act of Congress. The Executive branch still hasn’t explained how they’re able to shut down an agency like this.

I’m honesty surprised they didn’t start with CFPB and instead went after USAID as the first scapegoat agency. Maybe they wanted to test whether it would work.

I think they did USAID first because the creation of CFPB occurred under Dodd Frank in the wake of the 2008 GFC.

Pretty clear who Trump is serving. It ain’t us.

He’s serving crypto (himself).

Yep. And no one can sue him for his fraudulent memecoin scam either. Let the scams run wild on us all.

Good it will take year or two for people to feel the pain.

Guess no more suing capital one for stuff like this.

-Capital One falsely advertised its 360 Savings account as having high interest rates

-Capital One kept the 360 Savings interest rate at 0.30% from December 2020 to at least August 2024

-Capital One introduced the 360 Performance Savings account with higher interest rates, but didn't notify existing 360 Savings customers

-Capital One didn't automatically upgrade existing 360 Savings accounts to 360 Performance Savings accounts

-Capital One's practices deprived millions of customers of billions of dollars in interest payments

Of course the republicans want to take down the agency that protects ordinary people and hurts big banks.

CFPB has had a target on its back since it was first instituted (GOP previously tried to take it down through the court process).

I’m honesty surprised they didn’t start with CFPB and instead went after USAID as the first scapegoat agency. Maybe they wanted to test whether it would work.

Is this payoff for the banks and predatory lenders under Trump's wing?A get out of jail card for the loan departments at unaccredited colleges?
Certainly doesn't help Joe the Plumber
