Unfortunately, they just show kids how to write letters in kindergarten, and then there is never any handwriting instruction after that. Look at kids' handwriting. It is illegible.

This is what I do in 5th grade. The act of physically writing helps with memory and understanding and students are forced to slow down. I think most 3-5 teachers in my school use this approach.

When does this typically happen? My kid’s 2nd grade teacher is transitioning to an app for informative writing assignments.
