Trinity has the reputation of being a pressure cooker. I think that applies in high school. Trinity doubles in its class size in high school with the stellar students from public and k-8 places like St. B.

From what I heard, St. B seems lovely and yet rigorous place.

I agree with above poster. I don’t know what is going on at St Ann’s, but seems like there’s little oversight on the kids and parents are afraid to speak up in case their jeopardize college admissions (since no grades and it’s all subjective)

If it is St. Ann v. Trinity, they are very different schools. So hard to compare. Apples and oranges. But with recent news regarding St. Ann.. I would be wary. But that is my take. If your child is better fit at St. Ann, then it may be worthwhile.

One other reason for opting for K-12: admissions criteria change for 9th grade entry. Far more weight is placed upon smarts and academic performance. You probably have to graduate top of class at a St. B’s to have a shot at Collegiate etc.

Also some schools do heavy expansion at 9th while others have just a few openings.

Well, for one thing, you don’t have to go through the horrible process again if you start at trinity or st. ann’s, which is a huge point in their favor.

Trinity unless you have strong preference with one of the schools. Also, think about the cons like commute or are you willing to go through this process again if you chose k-8.

Assuming you do not live in Brooklyn, I would pick Trinity.

St Anns is nowhere near these other schools and a very different style—if you live on the UES eliminate it.

Very very different schools. Might be an easier choice than, say, trinity vs. dalton or something. However, as a trinity alum with a lukewarm opinion of it, I’d still choose it over the others for a bunch of reasons. Depends on your kiddo.
