Kid took it just for credit, they love museums though!

I think op is probably concerned because it’s an ap class for what would be their one elective.

If they are truly interested in art and the history of art through time, then the work load is manageable in that they are already probably aware of a lot of what they will be discussing. But only if they are truly interested. They should look through Janson's and see if it's not too dense.

Omg if your kid is too lazy to do the work, just do regular classes. GMU is accepting everyone. It’ll be fine.
