You are also too late to apply for next year, the referrals were due in December.
That said, AAP has little to do with going to TJ. As long as she is taking honors classes and completed Algebra 1 H by 8th grade she has a shot at TJ. Look at the TJ requirements, there is nothing in there about AAP.

Another voting to not make her take a test or do any work to get AaP for 1 year. Just take honors classes.

Agreed, math is not tied to AAP. Her math placement will be based on her current placement.

I 100% agree, AAP only goes through 8th grade. Once you get into HS, any can take honors, advanced, AP or IB classes. So, don't waste your time or put your daughter through it for one year. Just have her take Honors classes and she will be fine. And, if math is what is driving your push, talk to her teacher. Even if she is placed in AAP, she will not be able to take Geometry unless she has taken Alegbra 1 this year.

Why apply for 8th grade? It is one year and the classes are not that different. Most kids in AAP score in the 98th percentile or higher. Plenty of kids with scores in the 140s are not placed in AAP.

My daughter -- Grade 7-- is applying for AAP starting Grade 8 at Fairfax County Public Schools. She sat for NNAT and was rated at the 95 percentile. She now has the option to retake the CoGAT instead. Overall she is average in terms of extracurricular activities and has good grades.
Will appreciate any advise pertaining to:
1- Is this percentile enough for her AAP application in Fairfax county? or Should she retake the CoGAT to try to improve her score?
Also, is GoGAT more difficult than NNAT or is it the same for this grade level?
