Most likely this is related to a herniated disc in your lower back. I say this from experience. Even if you are feeling no pain in your back. The pain in your piriformis is from a nerve connected to one of your lower back discs. You should lay off the exercise for now. Do back extension stretches. Look up McKenzie Program.

Go to a good physical therapist. You'' likely need a combo of stretching, massage and strength exercises.

I did this LY and kept stretching/doing light exercise thinking it would help. I ended up bedridden in even more pain. Soo I would say to take it easy and not aggravate it. Dr said sciatica, massage therapist said piriformis, not sure which it actually was, so yours may be different.

Is the performs, you need an elbow, fist or at least a tennis ball to treat it. Just get the thing to rub around in small circles and get bigger. I found husbands elbow after bath almost as good as the PT. Good luck! It’s a hard one to self heal.

Keep walking/jogging on treadmill?
Continue leg workouts?
Or stop until it heals?
