There is no Gifted and Talented program in MCPS. There is only CES, which is a criteria-based lottery for entering in grade 4 (and you have to change schools to attend unless your own school is one of the few CES locations). GT means nothing in any grade. "Enrichment" means a couple of extra worksheets for a couple of weeks until the teacher gets overwhelmed and has to give it up. Teachers genuinely do not have time to enrich, and tbh I don't blame them. We 'enrich' at home by spending time on extracurricular things that matter to our family. That's fine with me. All kids are bored in school sometimes. Part of life. I want more than school can offer and I have the leisure for it? That's on me, so the teachers can help the kids who need it.
