All electric vehicles are depreciating like stones, taking the industry off guard. Not just Teslas. Lightly used Porsche Taycans can be picked up cheap, and Chevy Equinox EVs can be leased for about the cost of a cell phone plan ($169/mo. in some cases).

If you want to take something out on Elon, go after Elon, not your neighbors. We need to get our kids to school and ourselves to work. A car is a car. I don't get people who side eye someone for the car they drive as if it means they agree with Elon's current politics. That's just not realistic.

I don’t think anyone said they have a problem with Tesla drivers, just that we’re not inclined to go buy one.

I definitely look askance at cybertruck drivers though.

I went to the Washington Auto Show yesterday. I was near the Tesla display and a guy asked me if I wanted to test drive a Tesla. I said, "No thank you". He then persisted and said, "Are you sure?". I said that I wouldn't want to be anywhere near a Tesla in DC at this time. The Tesla area was dead and I don't think anyone was looking at them. The other EVs had lines of people waiting to test drive them.

My dad has a Tesla and I don’t think he would get rid of it early but I also think he’d be disinclined to buy another.

I can’t see myself ever buying one. It’s not because I think it’s any kind of statement or meaningful protest but why would I want to think about Elon musk any more than absolutely necessary? I think that company is in a real pickle, to whatever extent selling cars to suburban moms is actually essential to them, and given the stock price maybe it isn’t?

I don't own a tesla but my car insurance keeps going up and I'm not getting tickets when I called to ask about it I was told it's directly because of tesla repairs and how long they need rental cars for, so basically everyone else is paying for these people and their teslas.

All people I personally know with Teslas would buy another one and two already did. They have no idea what Musk is doing or saying. If they knew, they would have bought the stock long ago, not the car.
The bought the car for status and have since had to cut down on spending. All work from home, don't drive enough to justify the expense, and two have had periods of unemployment.

What status does it give?

I don't buy unreliable cars, so I am limited to a few tried and true car models. Tesla is not one of them. To echo another PP, the middle class Tesla owners I know can't afford to ditch their vehicle for political reasons, but they will certainly not buy another Tesla.

Used Teslas were flooding the market even before Musk did his Nazi salute.

But, most people cannot afford to just buy a new car just because.

Can't speak for everyone but the people I know who have Teslas love them but won't buy a new one when the time comes to replace it. Musk has gone too far. They are also selling their Tesla stock.

Is there going to be a flood of used Teslas hitting the market as those who previously purchased them no longer wish to be associated with Musk?
