So your kid applied for a paid job with Teen Works, not a CIT. (CIT stands for counselor in training and is usually for very young teens, generally unpaid)

Your kid's best bet is to try to contact someone at the recreation department and ask. Last year the rec department held summer job fairs, which were helpful. Unfortunately MoCo Rec sometimes has programs on their website which are obsolete/underfunded etc, so you might want to check that the program is available.

When you go to the MoCo Parks and Recreation page for teenagers (https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/rec/howto/employment.html#teens), the first link does not work, but the second link takes you to this URL:
https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/montgomerycountymd/jobs/4601852/teenworks-recreation-assistant-i-grade-s1

I'm trying to understand if my DC applies, what exactly happens next. Can we travel over the summer or does DC commit to entire summer? Does DC interview and about when? (Obviously if DC is not going to work, I want to make an alternative plan.) How does DC know which job locations (which rec centers) need help? There just seems to be a lot of information I'm not able to figure out from the pages.

OP, maybe post a link with the program you are talking about.

The only two CIT programs I am aware of with Montgomery County camps are the Summer Leadership Challenge and the Summer Fun Center CIT program. Both of these you register and pay for like a regular summer camp, through Active Montgomery.

yes.

New poster. You don't apply to that, you just sign up and pay.

I'm hoping other parents with kids in MoCo have had some experiences with their kids and seasonal employment to help me...

I'm hoping to hear from parents whose kids worked for MoCo as CITs. Do you have to work the entire summer? What if your family plans to take a vacation? About when did they interview for the CIT positions and/or announce that they were interested in hiring your DC? How do you know what location you are assigned?

I'd love more information. My DC just applied, but I'm trying to figure out how and when I plan the rest of our summer.

Thanks in advance!
