Thanks to those of you who suggested cookies! It also might work for flourless banana pancakes.

The package is virtually identical to what I’ve always bought — and I should have been more specific: Whole Foods brand 365 chunky peanut butter. This is called “spread” — something I only noticed after I tasted it. So it wasn’t a totally different jar. I will go back and see if there is still a similarly packaged jar that’s the original peanut “butter” that I was looking for.

I had the reverse problem the other day where I grabbed two cans off the shelf and realized they had different labels so I spent 5 minutes scrutinizing them to see what the difference and couldn’t find one— it’s like they just wanted two different colored cans on the shelf.

Wtf people — I don’t need you screwing around with me

They're not going to take it back after it's been opened, which I assume is how OP knows they don't like the taste

OP - yes they will. I just called. The packaging is very similar to the one I’ve always bought. The ingredients are different, and it’s now called “spread” — in tiny letters that I didn’t notice.

Is the UPC code the same?

Older Black female job hunter here. It’s not. It is, however, the one that I have the personal ability to address. I’ll stop there.

I could definitely get them to take it back. It’s all in the phrasing. Wow, having worked at a grocery store when I was 14 is still paying off!

It’s very frustrating. I’ve had the same issue, Whole Foods no longer offers any 365/Whole Foods brands without palm oil.

The non natural peanut butter works best for cookies so you could save it for that.

Use it to make cookies and feed it to the neighbors.

Without brand and labels, or info on if the name of the product changed, it’s hard to tell if this was a change in product or you grabbing a totally different jar.

Yesterday I was shopping in a hurry at Whole Foods. I grabbed a large jar — blue top — of chunky peanut butter. I thought it was the same chunky peanut butter — made from peanuts and salt — that I’ve been buying for years. Today I pulled it out to add to my oatmeal with a few chocolate chips, and I noticed that it was different. No oil on top, so no stirring needed. But it also has palm oil, sugar, and molasses in the mix — which is not what I wanted. I’m mad at myself for not reading the label — but I’m also wondering if Whole Foods changed their recipe. I’m hoping they still have the 2 ingredient version — since I’m not nuts about the taste or the additives. Grumble.

Obviously I now need to check more than just the color of the jar lid. And need to read labels — even for products I’ve been purchasing for years.
