Rock climbing. You can try it out at like Sport Rock or whatever is near you and then join the team.

Consider bowling too. Dd made new friends from her youth bowling league .

13:30 again and I wanted to add that for youth tackle, they are on teams based on age and weight. We never saw injuries but were in a very good program that focused on injury prevention. That changed when DS got to HS, which was the reason he quit.

At 10, it would be whatever sport his friends are getting into. That’s when my son started football and loved it. Youth tackle was completely different than flag and a great community for him for many years. He did end up quitting once in HS since it was different than youth.

Thanks for these answers. This is OP. I was asking because he has been playing travel soccer for 2 years but I dont think that is his future. He got in to the team because his friends were doing it, and he was aggressive enough to keep up at first, but he doesn't put much effort in and it's starting to show. His footwork isn't great. Im thinking ahead to what he could play if he doesn't make the team next year. I think rec soccer would be just fine, but he may not want to do that since all of his soccer friends play travel now.

He played a season of flag football and was a terrible catcher. Coach put him as running back and he seemed to enjoy that so maybe we could try that again. Im not in love with the idea of tackle ball.

Lax seems to involve a lot of speed and coordination, no? Those are not his strong suites.

Crew is definitely on my mind for older ages, he is quite tall and would probably like that type of grind.

Thanks for the ideas!

He is more social than competitive, and is motivated by being part of a crew or doing something right or having fun. He probably won't practice much on his own. He looks athletic and has tons of energy but is not overly passionate.

Just wondering with that profile what people think might be the best fit!

(Honestly just curious, dont bash me please)

rec soccer is not social, at all. Football teams tend to stay together. Soccer teams switch a lot, play by age, do drafts, football tends to be based through a school team.

Football, definitely, he can be on the team but not a major contributor.
