I only watch TV when I’m on the treadmill. I have to really put effort into making sure I do it - in my regular day as a SAHM who I think is pretty active, some days I only get 4,000 or so. Cleaning the kitchen or cooking doesn’t give you many steps!

I work from home and have a treadmill. It’s amazing how many steps I can get during the day (while legit working.) basically, if I’m not on camera I’m (slowly) walking.

I dont have a tracker. I used to walk 5 miles on the treadmill. Now I ride 20-23 miles on the Peloton. I don't know how many "steps" that is per day.

Neither one of these activities requires much longer than an hour, which isn't much time. I have a desk job so figure this is better than nothing.

I use the elliptical, walk in place during work conference calls, park as far away from the door as possible when I go to the store… It all adds up.

Take a dance cardio class most days and it accounts for the majority of my steps. The rest is some type of strength or stretch class, errands and kitchen time.

My tracker says that’s about 4 miles and I’m 5’6. Maybe your tracker is off? I walk the dog a few times a day, work out for about 30 minutes and otherwise take kids to practice and sit at a desk for 8 hours. I easily get 15,000 steps in a day.

I assume you have a desk job.

Can you not walk during lunch break? Park far away in the parking lot and squeeze in steps?

Otherwise, yea,you walk (or run) a treadmill. Now you know why.

I live in NYC and don’t own a car, so all my errands involve walking. I usually take the subway to work but walk home (2ish miles). I grocery shop probably every other day, and walk there and back.

When I’m in the office (3 days per week usually), I make a concerted effort to get up and walk to the bathroom, get a coffee, or stretch my legs once an hour. When it’s nice outside I’ll take a 15 minute walk around lunchtime. If I’m WFH I try to take a morning walk and an afternoon walk. I will also hop on the treadmill for calls or periods where I am just reading something.

And at the end of the day, I will top up my steps if I’m not at 10k. It does require extra effort some days, even though I walk everywhere. I would imagine even more so if you live in the suburbs and are reliant on a car.

6 miles? I’m 5’4” and 10000 steps is 4 miles according to my tracker.

When my dog could do walks, I could get it easily by walking th dog 2x a day plus just walking around my house, stores, etc.

6 miles of running does it for me.

For me that’s 6 miles of walking. Who has time for that if you’re not a daily runner?

I’ve wondered if my Apple Watch has miscalculated my steps.
