I’m 44 too and I just made a yummy curry. It’s not stressful because DH cooks 50% of the time, the kids are in high school or college, and our work schedules are flexible. When we were in the throes of inflexible work and daycare… food was just fuel. Now it’s a pleasure.

I hope your situation gets better soon, OP.

OP here. I’m too lazy to learn how to use it! I basically make the same 10-15 things over and over again.

Totally agree with you. Getting the ingredients, cleaning up, chopping, prepping, too much. I stopped cooking when I was about 50. I'm close to 60 and recently retired so I am starting to cook again, but I'm over it in general.

I hear you. 56 yr old with a gluten free, vegetarian DH and a son with extreme food preference. And a DD who is an excellent cook, fortunately.

No pressure. So many other options. My parents rarely cooked dinner for me once I hit high school. I remember hitting up the various food places where my friends worked for handouts.

Same age as you and I feel the same way.

I like cooking. I just don't want to come up with what everyone will eat and have a decent variety.

I like cooking on my days off and weekends. Thankfully DH loves cooking and is more than happy cooking most of the week.

OP here. I have 4.5 years until my youngest goes to college. I’m not wishing her gone, but I do think as an empty nester I will tell my husband he can figure it out or we can eat cereal - it matters not to me.

Yes, I would happily eat yogurt and fruit or a scrambled egg and call it good

I don’t want to come up with the meal ideas. I will cook, but please tell me what to cook.

Me neither.
I am the OP with the misdelivered cookies and I am waiting for someone on DCUM to tell me its ok to eat one so I can avoid having to make something.

Am I the only one? I’m 44. I just literally never want to cook dinner again.
