This happened to me while I was in Germany. Spilled a huge beer at the Hofbrauhaus, lol. This was 35 years ago. They almost didn't let me on the plane to go home, but in the end they did. Nowadays they wouldn't have.

You'll have to go through an expedited process to get a new passport. Start here:

Maybe contact them to see what the process is for replacing a damaged passport.

File a claim with the USPS for the cost of the passport processing.

OP here. Nevermind. travel is actually the 10th so we made an appointment to get it replaced. Major PITA.

Just renewed a passport. It arrived today and USPS put it on the porch in the rain where it sat for 5+ hours. the cardboard envelope soaked through--it's as if the passport was dunked.

What to do? We travel Feb 14th to Mexico.
