We really didn't start to get very serious about this sort of stuff until much later - like HS years when feet aren't growing super fast and they will accumulate a few that they can rotate through.
I remember having a conversation when my son was about U9 with another Dad about cleats and how he bought this pair for his DS because of improved feel for the ball and nearly laughed. Come on, they are little kids.
