Same mom here, want to update COSA is approved for my daughter on a sibling (twin sis) basis.

That was not my experience in trying to get the other sibling into the same school that houses the magnet. They are two years apart so slightly different situation.

Thanks to everyone for giving your views. We recently moved to a new place in the same county and the same magnet school area, but our home high school changed. So, any high school is new for my other twin (who is not as strong as her sister ). I want at least both sisters is the same school. If any of you have experience transferring kids on a sibling basis please share.

Just want to add for 4th and 5th grade when my one kid was selected in CES (at that time it was not lottery-based) then we kept the other kid in home elementary school as we didn't want her to separate from her friends. But now she is feeling all alone.

Middle school Magnet school was our home school and both kids were in different programs (one in magnet other one in regular)

My other kid is a very happy, loving kid, everyone loves her at school and never gets upset with her twin sister is in magnet. She never competes with her sister. Her sister got selected in all three magnet programs at Poolsville.

I know back to home school is always an option if the kid is not happy with the school.

It does not hurt to try it. The worst that can happen is if they say no. If twin gets approved and doesn’t like it, she can go back to home school.

I think the allow that OP based on my experience with MS magnet. One kid got in and pretty sure the other got pulled in. We do not know which one got lucky through the lottery first.

Think carefully before doing this. You've got Twin A that got in to a selective program and Twin B that failed to do so. How is setting up Twin B to be the "also ran" at the same school as her more successful sister going to benefit Twin B? Poolesville HS is very small and the comparisons would be inevitable. Might she not thrive setting up her own separate existence at your home HS where she's not being pigeonholed as the less accomplished twin sister of Twin A?

I was the more accomplished sibling in a somewhat similar scenario and some things about it were very unpleasant for my brother. Us going to separate high schools was much better for him even if it was less convenient for my parents.

My one kid got selected for the magnet program in Poolesville, and can we transfer her twin sister to same school in the regular program?
