It shouldn't even have grades. Health and PE should be Pass/Fail

Are there any other classes like this that they can take online during the school year? My DD is taking Health right now the normal way and I had no idea online was an option. She also will likely take the tech class over the summer to make room for other requirements but that’s pricey of course.

How do you sign up for online classes during the school year?

I keep seeing people post about class meeting periodically or an idea of moving at your own pace. That was not our experience last spring. Health A met once per week, Tuesday or Thursday depending on your section. It ended about half way through the semester and the second half of the semester was health B. Same configuration.

It happened to be the same instructor for both sections for either Health A or B (I can’t remember) and she allowed the students to switch nights if they reached out in advance because they could not make the regular class time one week, but I do not think that is the norm.

There are a large number of assignments at first glance, but at least 90% of them involve things like posting a comment on a discussion board or responding to others' comments. The rest are more significant, but none took more than 30-60 minutes. It is definitely doable to take Health online in the evening during the school year. The class meets virtually, but infrequently. It may also be possible to take both semesters of health in a single semester online because the students work at their own pace, and I think students who finish Health A quickly can start Health B immediately rather than waiting until the next semester.

In a nutshell, the poster who suggested that Health is boring and unserious is correct. Take it online during the school year or during the summer. It will be an easy A and will open your student's schedule to take something more meaningful.

You do need to log on when they ask you to though, which is very infrequently and communicated in advance .

My daughter took it last spring (A then B). She had to log on for every session. Homework seemed similar to what our son has for the in person version right now.

It’s also free versus summer school which will be over $750 if they use same pricing as last summer.

Yes. You have to pay attention or look for it, but it's a thing. Sometimes they tell underclassmen to wait until they ensure Seniors don't need it. It's super easy.

My daughter took Honors Health A and B the summer before 9th grade and was bored to death. It's good to get it out of the way, OP.

My daughter is taking it now in 10th grade and thinks it's her easiest class.
