Sign up, because of people don't, these programs don't get funded. If there's a steady decrease in enrollment, funding will get reduced. The worst outcome is it gets eliminated entirely. Sign up and encourage everyone you know who is eligible to sign up!

100% this. Also just getting a surprise book in the mail every month is something that can make your kid looking forward to books and reading. You might be able to do that yourself, but you won't. I'd say about 50% of the books were solid additions to our home library.

I did. It’s not really a limited resource, i.e. by signing up we didn’t take books from another kid. I do not sign my kids up for DPR camp, which is a limited resource. I’d love to pay DPR prices rather than what we pay for camp but other families need those spots more.

Definitely sign up and donate! Your child will love it and the success of the program helps it grow.

Yes, this. Never underestimate the excitement of getting something just for you in the library. Donate enough to cover the cost of books and postage or more. It's helpful for programs to show how popular they are.

I don’t think you should. Resources are finite. Also, my neighbor is on the board and signed my child up at birth, and I’ve found that the books are very random and about 50% are total crap.

I know there's no income limit, but my friends and I have different opinions on whether you should sign up if you can afford to buy lots of books yourself.
