I think OP is asking for schools where the honors program acts like a smaller “school within a school” to get the medium-sized school “feel” her son wants even if he’s at a larger university.

Would an honors program (assuming he could get in!) at a school like USC or UGA be an option to consider? I feel like he needs to be more open to schools further north as Villanova, BC, etc… would be great fits (again, assuming he could get in!). Thanks in advance!

Can he handle the culture shock?

Oh yes - honors program isn’t a “must” - just as thinking maybe being in one of those would make a big school seem smaller if that makes sense.

How about UVA? It’s a great school, even without an honors program.

Clemson has a good Honors program as does USC. You may also want to look into the honors program at UT-Knoxville.

+100. Honors at UGA provides priority registration, smaller intro classes, and a separate honors dorm. I hear that the priority registration is really the biggest perk.

Honors at UGA is not that big of a deal. It is a great school with or without honors.
