But the biggest hit was when we were on a catamaran at the reef and three sea turtles came to hang out with us for a couple of hours. They were super curious and would swim right up to us and be silly. Tons of personality. It was amazing.

We had a very cool morning kayaking through mangroves with dolphins too. A mom and her calf followed us for a long time. They go underwater for a while so every time we thought they were done and had left us, they'd pop up a couple of feet away or take a big leap and surprise us.

We didn't have luck really seeing manatees. We got a couple of very short glimpses or could see a shadow moving away, but not a good look. You're better off going to Crystal River, Florida for manatees.

The snorkeling was amazing too. We saw a 6' long Moray eel that was amazing. Lots of other things too, including loads of rays, but the eel was a highlight.

Pyramids and snorkeling. If you can go see the village founded by runaway enslaved people, it is worth the side trip.

Mostly, it was not my favorite place in the region. The food isn’t great compared to Mexico and other places in the Caribbean. Avoiding tourist places doesn’t help much in that regard.

Could you share the name?

Sorry it was years ago so I thought the idea might he more helpful than the name. Might have been Chaa Creek or might have been one down the road from Chaa Creek.

I didn’t scuba or snorkel there but I think it’s some of the best in the western hemisphere.

Going to Belize without snorkeling/diving is like going to Italy and not seeing any art.

My best Belize experience was taking a catamaran to an off shore reef for snorkeling. It was amazing!

Not in Belize but Tikal (we did it as a day trip from Belize), Mayan cooking class and snorkeling on the reef

Besides the ATM cave, what was the best thing you experienced in Belize?
