Stay away from Shipwit - they are a broker and are full on bait and switch. Quote a low price - you pay them a fee and the driver the rest at delivery. However, the quote is so low - you can't get a driver at that price. They refuse to refund your $$. Awful.

Depends on the value of the car. For a new Audi, I would pay a professional, mostly for their insurance, realizing it would be more than the $1300 mark.

For a family workhorse, agree that any body will do. Go on Task Rabbit (since Craigslist is effectively dead) and offer someone fee + return ticket on Southwest.

I had to ship a car from MD to California. Prices were all over the place and delivery and pickup seemed like a hassle. Also, most of the quotes I got were shipping brokers and not transportation companies. It was a new car, still worth a bit, and I wasn’t comfortable having a middle man for this. Also, as soon as I talked to three brokers, my phone blew up for a month straight from people wanting to ship my car. Everything I read painted car shipping in a not too great light for me. I ended up driving the car out there and flying back. The roadtrip, while a little lonely, was fun.

Most people end up doing some version of this. Otherwise, prepare to pay a pretty penny.

We attempted to move a vehicle from Texas to PA years ago. Pricing was all over the place and none could give us set times for pickup and drop off. At the time, my DH traveled a great deal and I had young kids. I did not want to meet an 18 wheeler car carrier in a strip mall at odd hours. My DH ended up flying to Texas and drove it home himself. Maybe you will have better luck. Read every review.

Please recommend a good company that can transport one SUV from DMV to FL safely. It is a newer car so I want to make sure I use a reputable company for transport. It needs to be sent sometime in Feb so winter conditions may still persist.
