I think it’s open each year, but there will be fewer seats because of continuing students. So chance will be lower.

If your DC is placed in later rounds at TPMS and accepts, they must give up the spot at Parkland. This may seem obvious, but it means that they can't try out TPMS and then fall back to Parkland if they find they don't like TPMS. They would go back to their home school in that case (this assumes that they are outside of the MSMC home catchment area of Parkland/Loiederman/Argyle).

As PP stated, having accepted Parkland does not remove them from the later rounds (or initial round) for the criteria-based magnets (e.g., TPMS).

Yes. The processes are entirely independent since Parkland is pure lottery and not at all merits based.

Our child got the invitation for Parkland and is in the lottery pool for Takoma Park magnet program but was not selected in the first lottery draw. Can we accept the Parkland invitation by the deadline but still stay in the Takoma lottery pool for subsequent vacancies/lottery draws? Thanks
