If you work in this space, Trump and his edicts have quickly succeeded in destroying the infrastructure for critical work.

Stopping the funding essentially means orgs will need to shut down.

Americans will lose their jobs. Good Americans who have dedicated their careers to helping others.

I know most of you are probably more interested in arguing the geopolitical fallout, but this has devastating effects on people.

I just had my entire NGO’s work stopped. All around the world, hundreds of people, stopped. I will spend next week laying them all off, I think. What else can I do? And then when the pause is lifted will I even have an organization to reboot? We may be operationally dead by then. Which, since we are a bunch of woke liberals I suppose is the point.
